Herbert N. Miller Memorial Fund

Herbert N. Miller retired from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), where he served as Country Director for Burkina Faso from 1984 to 1989.

Stationed in Ouagadougou, he was responsible for managing a team of USAID employees to implement and maintain humanitarian assistance programs that included disaster relief and a large school feeding service that provided virtually every elementary school child a “hot lunch” at school, among other things.

Prior to Burkina Faso, Herbert also served in Laos, Cameroon, and Niger. Burkina Faso was his favorite post because of the hospitality, warmth and vibrance of the Burkinabè people. For the next 30+ years, his license plate said “Ouaga1”. Herbert passed away on December 17, 2020.

So this fundraiser is dedicated in his memory. He would be proud to support the Konkourona Alliance Foundation (KAFO) as they work to break the cycle of poverty in the village of Konkourona, Burkina Faso.
